Scanning back and forth across the small building made of wooden logs, the wizard could sense that there was something very odd about this building. The hound trail led directly to it. But, the trail did not lead to the great double front door. It led to the side and went directly in, like the rogue gave no consideration to anything even being there.
“Who and what are you?” the wizard mumbled to himself. He stared up at the old wooden building. Most likely, it was an abandoned inn. A darkness lingered all around it and concealed it from the rest of the forest. Dark mysteries hid in these shadows.
As he stared deeply into the building, he could feel it beckoning him. The air began to shift around him. The leaves hissed as they were shoved across the ground. The long blades of grass bowed down to the eerie presence. Listening closely, one could barely hear a low growl shaking everything around.
"It is time to face judgment." said the old wizard. He leaned forward and pushed down on his knees to make himself straighten up with a moan.
The mysterious presence began moving and swirling around the building. The wizard focused on the blue hound trail and lifted both palms upwards into the air. The blue flames lifted and swirled together into a miniature tornado.  Turning his hands inward, the wizard clapped his hands together to solidify the blue hound, who immediately turned toward the large cabin and lowered its stance to be prepared for attack.
Reaching into the satchel with both hands, the wizard lifted out the ambush plan in the form of a giant egg. Smashing the egg to the ground, a swarm of giant angry bees emerged. They swarmed around and landed on the wizard. They turned to a golden light and absorbed into his clothing.
"So, you came for something..." The rumbling voice echoed from all around.
    "Obviously."
    "Then come and get it!"
The old wizard stood there puzzled for a moment wondering at the challenge he had just been given. Why would someone steal this specific thing and then want him to come for it. How would someone even know he still had this and where it was hidden. He pulled out the hollow book for hiding this specific piece of jewelry from his satchel and looked at the cover.
"Golden Meadows, her favorite book." With flashes of hopeful memories and wishes he allowed himself to smile, very briefly. "I am coming to get it. I will!" The wizard's smile turned into a firm resolved frown. Lifting a white powder in his finger tips to his lips, he blew out and transformed the powder into a flock of birds. White birds scattered out in front of him and quickly filled the skies and circled around the cabin. Each one seemed to capture a few drops of light and reflect them out to illuminate everything. It was a moving cloud of light filled with the sound of flapping wings.
Pointing his finger to command the blue flamed hound to go forward. The wizard rushed in just behind it. He could not see a thing through the cloud of light, except for the blue haze that he followed very closely. The log cabin flickered and disappeared into a shadow of pure illusion. The blue flame hound faded into the shadow. The wizard still ran into the darkness with the light burning within him.
For a single moment in time, he felt weightlessness. Just after that, the dark angry energies gripped him like a giant hand, squeezing his frail old body. He had run over a great opening in the earth and began plummeting into the depths. A great deep laugh echoed from the darkness far below him. Stretching forth his arms out from his sides, he slowly turned while catching air and slowing his descent.
